Purpose of the role:
Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards), and subsequent repairs on a range of Distribution Tractors, heavy vehicles, and associated equipment, ensuring all work meets manufacturer standards. Conduct comprehensive visual and operational checks, diagnosing issues and carrying out repairs using advanced diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and systematic troubleshooting techniques.
A range of technical competencies, including:
- Proficiency in mechanical systems repair.
- Electrical fault diagnosis and repair, including CAN bus systems and multiplex wiring.
- Interpretation and application of technical drawings, schematics, and service bulletins.
- Use of diagnostic tools for engine management systems.
- Perform in-depth technical inspections and assessments of vehicles, using industry-standard inspection criteria and producing detailed, accurate reports to facilitate effective repair planning.
Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including safe use of tools, PPE compliance, and proper workshop housekeeping practices.
Responsibilities

- To accurately and quickly fault diagnose and undertake resultant repairs. To include working on a range of makes and models.
- To able to undertake vehicle servicing, repair and other related work.
- To complete all vehicle servicing and repair documentation correctly, in a timely manner and to a good standard.
- To be able to interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
- To be willing to assist colleagues in the execution of their jobs as required.
- There will be an element of manual handling involved.
- Support with planned mobile repair work in support of the Field Service Team, demonstrating flexibility where required.
- To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.

Qualifications and Experience required:
- Minimum City & Guilds NVQ Lv3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician or automotive equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering or automotive field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a workshop or engineering environment.
- Strong technical expertise in machinery/equipment/automotive maintenance and repair.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and maintenance software.

- A flexible approach to working hours is required along with the ability to travel extensively both in the UK and overseas as required.
- The factory unit is based in Elland however the applicant must be flexible in terms of working location and be prepared to work as required sometimes away at our customer’s premises.
- To be able to work temporarily at other locations within the group undertaking a similar role.
- Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the company.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a workshop environment.
- To liaise with the Workshop senior engineer and Workshop Co-ordinator at the Commencement of duty each morning to receive guidance/instructions on Vehicle defects and related repair priorities.
