About us: The Royal Terberg Group is globally active in the development, production, and service of specialized vehicles for ports, logistics, and waste collection. As a family-owned company, we prioritize our people. Guided by our core values, we focus on sustainable growth and innovation, which has led to our success for over 155 years. Since 2014, we have been investing in electric vehicles and are extensively testing with hydrogen. We aim to responsibly manage our environment so that future generations can continue our success.

When it comes to data, it is and exciting time to join our company as we are at a pivotal moment. We are in the midst of restructuring our data organization, defining and rolling out our data strategy, and working towards our future data architecture.
You can be part of this journey and – together with the rest of the organization – help us to realize our growth ambitions by leveraging data!

Your team: You will become part of our data team at Terberg Group, which includes a data manager, product owner data warehouse, process owners and analysts. As we are on a pivotal moment in our data journey, we are actively looking for more roles to grow the team. The aim of the team is to optimize our company’s processes and achieve added value business goals through the effective use of data.

Your role: As a Data Engineer, you will work on the data foundation of our organization. With your knowledge of cloud, data structures, pipelines, and data platforms, combined with our ambitions and challenges, we will take steps together towards our future data-driven organization. You will be broadly challenged with opportunities to develop in data architecture, data engineering, and data science.

You will start by expanding and maintaining our ETL/ELT pipelines, scaling our data warehouse/lakehouse, contribute to building data marts and data products, and setup (near) real-time data flows.

You will work closely with Data Platform Lead, Analytics Engineers, Group Data Manager, other team members of the group data team, and representatives from other Terberg companies. You will report to the Group Data Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Data pipeline and platform development: as a data engineer you are responsible for building data pipelines that connect source systems with our data products. We distinct analytical data streams and (near) real-time data streams that feed into operational applications and external APIs.
  • Data transformation and processing: as a data engineer you will work on effective data transformations and processing. These should be goal-oriented (serving the purpose of the data product), cost-effective, and sustainable (e.g. stable performance, possible to update, and easy to maintain)
  • Monitoring and optimization of data flows: as a data engineer we expected you to help provide clear data lineage over our data flows and support the maintenance, monitoring, and the performance of our data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Compliance and collaboration: as a data engineer you will work in multidisciplinary teams with people in various roles to collectively provide the best data solutions for Terberg (also including internal, external, local, and group).

Required Skills and Expertise:
We value curiosity and the ability to learn new techniques more than having the perfect experience for what we need today.

Must have:

  • Strong background in building and maintaining data pipelines (ELT/ETL), including both for analytical and real-time purposes
  • Strong proficiency in coding languages for data transformations like Python, SQL, NoSQL, (Py)Spark, etc.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud (e.g., Fabric, ADF, and Databricks)
  • Experience with tools like dbt or SQLMesh
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
  • Curiosity and Ability to Learn New Techniques - and apply them in a business context
  • Analytical Problem-Solving Skills: Both independently and as part of a team

 Nice to have:

  • Experience with Data Modeling Techniques and Data Warehousing Methodologies.
  • Working in agile project environments and with Azure DevOps.
  • Experienced in using Git solutions like Azure DevOps or GitHub
  • Experience with ERP data and expertise in the manufacturing industry

Profile of the ideal candidate: We are looking for an analytical problem solver who has the drive to deep dive and solve puzzle individually as well as working with various people to find and build the best solutions together. You are quality-oriented, meticulous, persistent, and self-reflective about your strengths and areas for improvement.
