Four 21-tonne Elite+ 6x4 RCVs and one Elite+ 6x2 Narrow have been given distinctive signage and colourful liveries to represent the critical organisations whose important messages they carry.
Prominently displayed on a vibrant orange RCV, The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is well represented, while a teal Elite+ represents Bowel Cancer UK alongside a rich purple vehicle carrying the key messages of Kidney Research UK, while the Royal British Legion is featured on a distinguished deep blue lorry.
The final Elite+, a smaller 6x2 RCV, is an eye-catching lime green colour and is dedicated to Grantham Samaritans, which provides 24/7 free emotional support with a dedicated helpline displayed on the side of the vehicle.
Counsellor Ashley Baxter, Leader of SKDC, said: “The charities we are supporting do pivotal, life-saving work. It’s a privilege to be able to help get their messages out to residents via these new refuse vehicles.”
The freshly customised vehicles joined the council’s fleet as replacements for others that have reached the end of their seven-year planned service life. They join two existing vehicles that are equally as striking – a distinctive pink RCV promoting breast cancer awareness and a bright blue RCV representing prostate cancer awareness – commissioned by the council two years ago.
Cllr Ashley Baxter, Leader of South Kesteven District Council, joined by representatives from the individual charities, and members from SKDC’s Waste & Recycling team
“Our lorries are highly visible and visit every corner of our district,” added Cllr Baxter. “Our crews tell us that the public is really interested and highly engaged when they see them out and about. The arrival of the new RCVs will provoke further conversations and hopefully make people more aware of the critical work these important partner charities do.”
Matt Horwell, Regional Sales Manager for Dennis Eagle, said: “These refuse collection vehicles are constantly in use within the local community, providing a valuable and highly visible platform for sharing these vital health and wellbeing messages in an impactful way. A huge thanks to Roadvert, our supportive partner in completing the bespoke graphics on these stunning vehicles. We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in this initiative.”
Dennis Eagle has been supplying vehicles to South Kesteven District Council for over 20 years, with this new delivery taking its operational fleet to almost 50 Dennis Eagle vehicles.
“It’s great to see these head-turning vehicles out on the road among the South Kesteven fleet, which is typically a distinctive Brunswick Green,” Matt added. “All new vehicles coming off the Dennis Eagle production line are primed and painted to order, ready for customers to add any bespoke livery.”
